Tips & Tricks | 11 Christmas Gift Ideas for a Travel Junkie

T'is the season.. to get your wallets out! Many of us struggle with what to get our friends, families, partners or colleagues which will put a smile in their face whilst not making us bankrupt! Here's a few gift ideas on what to buy a travel junkie for Christmas!

1. Language Lessons

People who travel abroad a lot will often not know the language spoken in all of the countries they are travelling to. These days, you can either have language lessons with a tutor where you pay per lesson or you can buy language courses online for a set amount. Really handy.

2. Travel Watch

Why buy a boring 'normal' watch when you can buy a travel watch? These cute watches come with many different colours straps and the hands of the watch is actually in the shape of a little aeroplane flying around the globe! Simple, yet effective.

3. New suitcase / Backpack / Handbag for Travelling

Who doesn't like new bags and cases? You could go plain and get a simple suitcase, go proper and buy a real backpack or travelling or JAZ things up a bit (see what I did there :P) and get a designer hand/tote bag which could be used as hand luggage.

4. Travel Journal and/or Organiser

Travel journals are a great way to document how your trip is going or to jot down ideas for upcoming trips too. Organisers.. well.. it's an organiser! The most simple way to have everything written down in one place – names, numbers, dates, times, meetings, flights, etc. The perfect travel gift for a frequent wanderer!

5. Headphones

Headphones are really a gift from heaven, lets face it. The perfect way to zone out and relax whether you're on the beach, on the plane or train, in the hotel or simply taking a walking around town. Nowadays, there's so much variety in colours and you can opt for wired, wireless or earphones!

6. Travel Safe

Travel safes are a great way to keep your valuables safe whilst you are out and about. You can place your valuable items inside and lock it either with a key or numeric code. They are hard and weather resistant and help to keep your valuables out of sight.

7. Camera / Waterproof Camera

Almost every traveller will want to capture their precious travel moments with a good quality camera. Depending on what kind of travel you'll be doing, you could buy a regular SLR, underwater camera, action camera, etc. I am curretly using a Fujifilm X-T10 as my everyday camera and a GoXtreme as an action/underwater camera (with waterproof cases). Sometimes, I will also use a Fujifilm Instax Mini for polaroids.

8. Travel Artwork

Don't you just love a good piece of art? And what better piece of art to give a travel bug than travel-themes canvasses or prints? Let them feel like they are still away with a lovely landscape painting or inspire them with a travel quote!

9. Hanging Wash Bag

Hanging wash bags are a great way to save space when packing all of you bathroom and body essentials for a trip. As I'm sure you have guessed from the title, these wash bags can hang from the backs of doors to save space in your room and open out to reveal all your goodies.

10. Travel Clothing

What ever the weather, you will always need something to wear from vest tops to bikinis to hoodies. Clothes are always a good gift idea for adults – let's face it, kids don't really appreciate clothes over toys!

11. Weekender / Holiday
