My AWESOME Surprise Birthday in Dubai (Part 2)

Hello darlings! If this is the first of my three-part post that you have stumbled upon, I suggest you start from the beginning to catch up before continuing :)

So it’s day two of our super busy surprise birthday trip to Dubai. All three of us are over-tired, jet lagged and excited - what a combo!

After chilling by the pool for a little while after breakfast, Lou tells us that we need to get ready for the next surprise (ANOTHER ONE? Is she made of money??). So we’re standing in our glad rags (literally) dressed to the nine and waiting for a cab to pick us up and whisk us of to this mystery destination. Imagine mine and my mum’s surprise when we pull up to The Burj Khalifa 😱😱😱 I could have wet myself. Lord knows that anything at the Bhurj Khalifa is far from cheap, or tacky so I guess we were definitely dressed for the occasion, what ever that was going to be.

As always my sister, Louise and the lady behind the desk were whispering so not to ruin the surprise for my mum and I. I was starting to wish I had done a little research on famous land marks, I.E The Bhurj as I had no idea what we were doing here or what to expect since we were all dressed up and this place looked more than classy. My mum and I squirmed with excitement as we were escorted into the lift and told by the staff to punch in ‘123’. 123?? 123rd floor? Can’t be.. who would make a building with that many floors? The Emirates of course! So we whizzed up to the 123rd floor - despite the height of the building it probably was the fastest lift I have ever been in. When we finally stopped, we walked down a flight of stairs to the 122nd floor where an ‘At.Mosphere Lounge’ sign pointed us in the right direction. My gosh. We were about to have the most fanciest afternoon tea, like, ever.

Hey!

The views from 122nd floor were insane! Light blue and white skies across the horizon. Everything beneath us resembled a very tiny toy city, you couldn’t even make out a person or car without squinting (or maybe that was just my eye sight, haha). The mood in the lounge was so calm and relaxing, a violinist greeted us with his beautiful melodies and continued to play quietly whist we enjoyed our food.

Upon arrival we were given a choice of two types of champagne. Who knew I was about to have a fuzzy head before 3 in the afternoon?! The first course was so dainty and cute - a pink macaroon serves with berries, cream and some kind of pink flower petal to garnish, served on a glittery gold glass pebble. So much attention to detail!

The champagne continued to flow as we went on to the main course - the afternoon tea arrived. Good Lord what a sight for sore eyes! Six very carefully crafted little sandwiches (salmon in white bread, cucumber and cream cheese in green cucumber bread, egg sandwich with garnish of finely chopped egg white, egg yolk and chives, egg white and tomato on crusty bread, carrot bread with an almond garnish and black bread). There were also scones, cakes, macaroons and tarts. It’s safe to say that we were so stuffed by the end of the meal that we were kindly offered a (very posh) doggy bag so that we could enjoy the rest of our tasty treats on our hotel room later.

After another champagne top up, it was on to the last course - a small serving of chicken with mushrooms, creamy mashed potatoes and a salad garnish. We finished up with another glass of champagne and another cheeky cocktail.

After that fantastic feast, we took a moment to appreciate the amazing views, take some snaps and just take it all in before calling our cab back to the hotel.

That evening, we enjoyed a Caribbean themed dinner in The Talk (the main restaurant in our hotel) with choices from curried goat, fried or roasted chicken, roasted veg, fried fish, soups, stews, rice and peas, etc as well as a range of tasty desserts.

We then found ourselves following my sister out of the hotel and down the main strip. Hmm.. where would we be going after dinner? We stopped at the Hilton Hotel (huh?) and were directed to the lift.

When the lift stopped and we were able to have a quick look around, I realised we were at Pure Sky Lounge. For anyone looking for a more chilled evening with drinks, snacks, good views and a little chilled music - this is the place to go! Pure Sky Lounge is an outdoor lounge within the Hilton Hotel which overlooks pretty much the whole of Jumeirah. At night time, all the city lights begin to twinkle in the distance and it just looks beautiful! My sister and I shared a sharing cocktail and the three of us were also given some complimentary popcorn 😋 yum!

After a little while of winding down and relaxing with drink in hand, the staff began walking over to our table and singing. Oh gosh - another birthday song which means another birthday cake! We really had been spoilt so much already! They brought us a bunch of birthday balloons, cake and sparklers and everyone in the lounge joined in to sign happy birthday!

It really was a lovely evening and I would totally revisit the Pure Sky Lounge for more drinks!
